Interferential Current Therapy

Interferential Current Therapy (IFC)

Interferential Current Therapyis a treatment to aid the relief of pain and the promotion of soft-tissue healing.

Tiny electrical impulses are induced into the tissues in the area of the pain. Where these waves intersect below the surface of the skin, the low-frequency stimulation induces the body to secrete endorphins, which are the body's natural pain-killers.

Most patients find interferential therapy to be very beneficial and describe the treatment as being relaxing as it reduces pain and inflammation.

Ligament sprains, muscle strains and spasms often respond well to interferential current therapy.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation ( EMS)- Neuro Muscular Stimulation Therapy

This type of stimulation is characterized by low volt stimulation targeted to stimulate motor nerves to cause a muscle contraction. During the voluntary contractions, which take place in your muscle group during normal exercise, the brain sends a special via a nerve impulse to the "motor point" of your muscle. That signal is a message for your muscle to contract and exercise. An EMS Unit duplicates that message causing the muscle to contract and exercise just as if it received a signal from the brain.

EMS differs from IFC in that it is designed to stimulate muscle motor nerves, while IFC is designed to stimulate sensing nerve endings to help decrease pain.

Russian Stimulation

Russian Stimulation is a specific form of Electro stimulation with a symmetrical Biphasic Square waveform. It was originally developed by the Russian Olympic team for muscle mass enhancement; however it is now more often used for muscle mass and edema reduction in the United States.

Russian Stimulation is similar to EMS in that it is designed to stimulate motor nerves. However the high frequency of 2500Hz allows for deeper muscle penetration and a more complete/stronger contraction of the muscle fibers. It relieves muscle spasms and help patients with Scoliosis.
